Agent Readiness

Making a business easy for AI agents to understand, trust, compare, and recommend — “SEO for the agent internet.”

Definition

Agents compress the whole buyer journey into questions: who is this for, what does it cost, what does it replace, what are the risks, how does it compare? Most websites bury or fog those answers. Agent readiness is the service of fixing that: an audit of what AI currently says about a company, then a cleanup — llms.txt, parseable pricing pages, honest comparison pages, plain-language use cases, structured FAQs, schema markup, changelog, optionally a lightweight MCP server — plus a monthly re-measurement loop.

Key Properties

  • Sales motion — “sell the screenshot”: run 20–50 buyer-intent prompts across major AI tools and show the owner they’re absent, misquoted (AI says $8 when it’s $20), or losing to a competitor with cleaner docs.
  • Pricing hypothesis from the podcast: $3k–10k audits ($10k–20k for larger B2B); this is not validated for Port Huron SMBs and Cloudflare’s built-in diagnostics/AEO pressure the standalone audit price.
  • Productize after ~10 same-niche clients when the repeated work pattern emerges (Productized Services (services-first, productize later)).
  • Go vertical: horizontal versions will be VC-backed; the opportunity is deep in one niche. For local businesses the end state is “let AI assistants book appointments with you.”
  • Remediation ladder: readable content and AEO first, then one narrow agent-callable conversion action; do not jump straight to a broad chatbot.

Application to the business

Still a strong door-opener for a Port Huron consultancy, but no longer defensible as “we run prompts and give you a score.” Cloudflare now offers evidence-backed readiness diagnostics and early-access AEO metrics including citation rate, prominence, mention rate, share of voice, and industry fit (From ranking to recommended: get your site ready to thrive in the age of AI agents). The paid offer should use those or independent measurements as inputs, then explain the local competitive loss, implement fixes, expose one safe conversion action, and re-test. A vertical version stacks with Niche Data Refinery data and local context Cloudflare cannot supply. As of 2026-09-04 the screenshot hook is already in the Port Huron market via AlbaTech Services, so the audit alone is table stakes; the survey evidence in SMB AI Adoption says owners’ objections are trust and error risk, which favors an evidence-first audit that leads into implementation over a free visibility check.
