GBP–Website Alignment (Consistency Signals)
Making a website’s landing page and structure match its Google Business Profile so Google trusts they are the same real, local business.
Definition
In entity-based local ranking, the website’s job is to corroborate the GBP. A mismatch signals “not real / not local / not trustworthy.” Caleb Ulku specifies consistency signals the GBP landing page (usually the homepage) must carry — he lists seven plus a bonus eighth:
- Title tag = primary category + city name
- H1 = primary category + city name
- Google Maps embed of the GBP location
- Secondary categories / core service in subheadings
- Review widget showing Google reviews
- Address matching the GBP character-for-character
- Phone matching the GBP character-for-character
- (bonus) Local-business Schema Markup (Structured Data)
Beyond the landing page, alignment extends to the whole Core 30 (one page per GBP category/service) so the site mirrors the GBP structure. The principle — consistent NAP and category/location signals across GBP and site — is established local-SEO practice; Caleb’s specific 7+1 checklist is his operationalization of it.
Key Properties
- NAP must match character-for-character — formatting differences read as different businesses.
- Title tag + H1 = category + city is the single highest-leverage fix (he found 60%+ of local sites use “home” or just the business name).
- The GBP landing page is whatever URL sits in the GBP website field (usually the homepage).
- Alignment is the relevance half of Local Ranking Factors (Relevance, Proximity, Prominence/Authority); it feeds both Google and AI models.
- Completion + consistency together are trust/entity signals.
