Social-Media Parasite SEO

Getting individual social-media posts (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter/X) indexed and ranking in Google — leveraging the platform’s authority to rank your content.

Definition

“Parasite SEO” traditionally means publishing on a high-authority third-party domain to borrow its ranking power. James Dooley applies it to social posts: he claims FB/IG/LinkedIn/Twitter posts now get indexed and can rank in Google if you (1) front-load the entity name + target keyword in the first 7–12 words (which become the post’s title tag), (2) avoid opening with “our story”/“I”, (3) skip hashtags on LinkedIn (they hijack the title tag), and (4) force-index the post URL via indexing tools (posts index in ~3–5 hours). He notes profiles don’t rank but pages/groups do (“can you run ads on it?” = a page). Only the post status — not comments — feeds LLMs, and posts don’t need likes/comments to rank once crawled.

Consensus is creator-opinion: presented as “we tested,” without published methodology, from a source with commercial interests. Distinct from — and complementary to — the GBP-centric local SEO of the Caleb Ulku corpus.

Key Properties

  • Rank the post, borrow the platform’s authority (Facebook/LinkedIn/etc.).
  • First 7–12 words = title tag — lead with entity + keyword.
  • Force-index the post URL; ~3–5 hr to index; Gemini/Claude ingest fast, ChatGPT ~2 weeks.
  • Pages/groups rank, profiles don’t; only status text (not comments) feeds LLMs.
  • Feeds LLM seeding; a channel-agnostic tactic Caleb’s system doesn’t use.
